Why You Don’t Need to Be Fit to Start Personal Training
“I’ll start when I’m fitter.”
If I had a pound for every time I’ve heard that… I could probably buy another set of kettlebells.
So many women in Gosport tell me they want to start personal training, but only after they’ve lost a bit of weight, got fitter, or feel more confident.
But here’s the truth: you don’t need to be fit to start.
That’s literally what personal training is for!
You’re not behind… you’re just beginning.
We’ve been conditioned to think fitness is for people who already look fit.
But it’s actually for anyone who wants to feel better.
There’s no “right” place to start — you just start from where you are.
I meet you there. Every step.
No judgement. No pressure. And definitely no burpees on day one (honestly, who likes those?).
We keep it simple and build from the ground up.
You’ll focus on progress — not perfection — and celebrate every win, from nailing your first proper squat to lifting the shopping without breaking a sweat.
What starting looks like
When a new client starts personal training with me in Gosport, we take it step by step:
Firstly, we have a chat to understand your goals. We also discuss what’s been holding you back.
On your first session, you have a gentle introduction to movement that feels doable.
A focus on confidence – not calorie burn
And plenty of laughs (and maybe the odd swear word, that’s you swearing at me BTW) along the way because fitness should be fun too!
You’ll be amazed at how quickly your body — and your mindset — start to shift once you take that first step.
Every small action builds confidence, and before you know it, you’re doing things you once thought were out of reach.

And before you go, remember this:
You don’t need to “earn” the right to start training.
You don’t need to lose weight first.
And you definitely don’t need to be perfect.
All you need is a willingness to begin and I’ll be right there to help you every step of the way.

If you’re in Gosport and thinking about starting,
I’d love to help you feel strong, capable, and confident — no matter where you’re starting from.
